Snapshot (6-10 min)
Get started by watching the lesson video as a group. In this lesson, students will learn about James, the half-brother of Jesus, who went from being skeptical to becoming a devoted follower and leader in the early church. Seeing the risen Jesus changed everything for James and gave him confidence to follow Jesus no matter the cost. His story shows that doubts and questions don’t have to be the end of faith. A real encounter with Jesus can completely change the direction of someone’s life.

- Being around Christianity or going to church isn’t the same as personally believing in Jesus. James grew up around Jesus, but he still had to decide for himself who Jesus really was and if he would follow him. John 7:5.
- The resurrection completely changed James. After Jesus rose from the dead, he appeared personally to James. James went from being a skeptic to becoming one of Jesus’ strongest followers. 1 Corinthians 15:7.
- James became a leader who cared more about God’s truth than popularity. When the early church faced disagreements, James helped people understand that salvation comes through God’s grace, not by earning it through religious rules. Acts 15:13-19.
- James’ faith showed up in the way he lived. He became known for prayer, courage, wisdom, and devotion to Jesus. Real faith isn’t just something you say you believe—it changes the way you live. James 1:22.
- A real encounter with Jesus can change anyone. James went from doubting Jesus to calling himself a servant of Jesus and staying faithful even when it cost him everything. James 1:1.
