When the Israelites started complaining about their food situation, God taught them a lesson that they would never forget.

In today’s lesson, we’re learning about a cool story of how God provided for his people, the Israelites. Remember, God used Moses to rescue his people from slavery in Egypt and he led them toward the Promised Land. But, the journey was long and the people got grumpy. In fact, it didn’t take long before the people started complaining to Moses that they were tired and hungry. They even said they would rather be back in Egypt as slaves! God doesn’t like complaining but he decided to do something to remind the people that he was with them. Food literally fell from the sky to feed them! Can you imagine that? By night, they had meat from birds. Each morning, they woke up to a white substance on the ground called Manna. Do you know what manna means? It means, “What is it?” That’s what the people said when they saw it on the ground. It was like bread. God had one rule, though. They were only supposed to gather what they needed to eat for the day and nothing more. God wanted to test the people to see if they would trust him to provide each day. That’s the lesson for us, too. God will give us what we need. We shouldn’t be selfish and demand stuff from God.
