When spies came to Rahab’s town, she helped to save their lives.
Last lesson, we learned that Joshua, the new leader of the Israelites, was leading them to the Promised Land. But, there was a problem. There were already people living in the land. So, Joshua sent out two spies to check things out The spies ended up at the house of a woman named Rahab who was not a respected person in the town. She had made some really bad choices in her life. But, she had heard the stories of how God had saved the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and how he parted the Red Sea for them. So, when she met the spies, she wanted to help them because she knew not to go against God and his people. When the king of the land heard about the spies, he sent soldiers to find them. But Rahab protected the spies by lying to the soldiers and hiding the spies on her roof. All she wanted in return was protection for her family. The spies agreed that when they came back to conquer the land, they wouldn’t attack Rahab’s house. She would leave a red rope hanging in the window to remind them of this promise. God did protect Rahab and she goes down in history as a great woman of faith.
