Think about your home and your school. I bet you have rules to follow in both of those places. At home, you probably need to keep your room clean, do your homework and brush your teeth. At school, you need to be quiet when the teacher is talking and be kind to other kids. These rules are meant to help you and to keep you safe. Well, did you know that God has some rules for us, too? He does and we find them in the Bible. The Bible is like our instruction manual for life. It tells us what’s right and wrong. Our job is to obey the rules, just like at home and at school. Obedience is a big deal to God so we should work hard to be good at it. Here are three things to keep in mind about obedience. First, we should obey the first time. When we’re told to do something, we shouldn’t question why or ignore it. We should listen and obey right away. Second, we should choose to hang out with friends who are also obedient. They will help us to stay on track. Third, we should never stop being obedient, even when we become adults. God has rules for us to follow and when we obey them, we’re kept safe and out of danger.
Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
