Snapshot (6-8 min)
Get started by watching the lesson video as a group. This lesson through Mark 1:14-20 explores Jesus’ announcement that God’s Kingdom has arrived and explains that entering His Kingdom begins with repentance and faith. Students will see how Jesus calls ordinary people to follow Him, challenging them to surrender their own priorities and put Him first, trusting that His way leads to the best life.
Icebreaker (5-10 min)
The Ultimate Team: Ask students, “If you were starting a movement to change the world, who would you choose for your team?” Then go around and have each student share their team picks.
Give them 2-3 minutes to pick:
- One athlete
- One celebrity
- One fictional character
- One person from your school
Transition: Jesus picked fishermen, tax collectors, and ordinary people instead. Why do you think Jesus chooses different people than we would?
