Generosity means giving something away even when it hurts. That’s what Jesus did, and we should too!

In today’s lesson, we’re going to talk about generosity. Generosity is all about being a giver, not a taker. If you’re generous, then you’re willing to give some of your money, a favorite toy, or even your lunch to help someone in need. Perhaps you’ve been on the receiving end of a generous person. Think about your parents. They spend their hard earned money to feed you, buy you clothes and take you on vacation. That’s pretty generous! But, there is an even better example of a generous person we all know. It’s Jesus! Jesus didn’t just give money or spend time with people, he gave his life for the whole world! He knew that in order to save us from our sins, he would have to die to pay for our mistakes. Isn’t that amazing? So kids, even though you don’t have a lot of money or stuff, find ways to be generous with your friends and family. Be willing to give your snack to a friend or let your younger sibling have one of your favorite toys. Be like Jesus.

  1. What’s your favorite part of the video? What’s one thing you learned from it?
  2. Name some generous people in your life. How were they generous and how did their generosity affect you?
  3. Share a time you feel like you were generous to someone. How do you know that you were generous?
  4. Why did Jesus praise the widow and not the rich people?
  5. Read Proverbs 11:24-25. Why are stingy people not happy in the end? Why do generous people feel refreshed?
  6. How will you apply this lesson to your life this week?
