Peter Heals a Beggar

We should show people how excited we are about the gifts that God gives us.

In today’s lesson, we’re going to learn about a super cool story about Peter, John and a lame guy. Now, we don’t mean “lame” like “uncool”. Lame was a word to describe someone who couldn’t walk. Peter and John were two of Jesus’ disciples and their job was to teach people about Jesus. One day, Peter and John were heading to the temple and they came upon this lame guy who was outside the temple gate begging for money. Because the guy couldn’t walk, he couldn’t get a job to make money, so he had to beg for it from people. Peter and John didn’t have any money to give but they thought of something even better! Peter said, “In the name of Jesus, get up and walk!” And, the guy stood up and walked! And, then he jumped up and down and ran around. Can you imagine how that guy felt? He was healed and he knew exactly who healed him. He ran into the temple thanking God. And, that’s how we should be, too. When we are blessed with things, we should show God how thankful we are for all he has done for us!

  4. What did Peter do for the guy? Why was the guy so excited?
  5. Read Psalm 100:4. What are some things you are thankful for in your life? How can you show God how thankful you are for those things?
  6. How will you apply this lesson to your life this week?
