Samson the Strong Man

Samson's strength didn't actually come from his super long hair, it came from somewhere way cooler than that.

God told Samson’s parents before he was born that he was going to be really special. God was going to make him a powerful and strong warrior who would defeat some mean people called the Philistines. The only thing Samson could never do was cut his hair. Samson was so strong that he was able to do some crazy things like kill a lion with his bare hands and he even defeated 1000 men with no army to help him! But, one day Samson made a big mistake. He told his wife about his hair and that God told him never to cut it or he would lose his strength. When Samson told his wife this, he had broken his promise to God. So, the Philistines found out about his hair and they captured him and cut his hair off taking Samson’s strength with it. But, God chose to be gracious to Samson and answered his prayer to have one last moment of strength to finally defeat the Philistines. God answered his prayer and Samson finally defeated the enemy. And guess what? God will make us strong to help us win the battles we face.

  1. What’s your favorite part of the video? What’s one thing you learned from it?
  2. If you were the strongest person in the world, what would you do with that strength?
  3. What did God promise to Samson? Who was he going to defeat?
  4. What was Samson not allowed to cut or his strength would leave? Who gave Samson his strength? 
  5. Read Isaiah 12:2. How has God saved us? How does he make us strong?
  6. How will you apply this lesson to your life this week?
